Does TOAgen work with Word’s built-in Table of Authorities features?
Yes. That is one of TOAgen’s core advantages. TOAgen works with Word’s built-in Table of Authorities system rather than replacing it with a separate proprietary structure. It uses Word’s native TOA fields and document features, which helps preserve compatibility with courts, colleagues, and clients. At the same time, TOAgen makes the process dramatically faster and more practical by streamlining citation marking, short-cite handling, cleanup, and TOA generation.
Is TOAgen for Word on Windows, Word on Mac, or Word Online?
TOAgen is built specifically for Microsoft Word for Windows. It does not run on Word for Mac, Word Online, or other non-Windows environments. That focus is intentional. TOAgen was designed for the version of Word that offers the deepest native document automation and the strongest Table of Authorities capabilities for legal drafting.
Who is TOAgen best suited for?
TOAgen is best suited for litigation teams, appellate practices, and other Word-centric legal environments that regularly prepare briefs, pleadings, motions, and other citation-heavy work product in Microsoft Word for Windows. It is especially valuable for firms that feel recurring Table of Authorities pain under deadline pressure and want a faster, easier, and more reliable workflow without abandoning Word’s native TOA system.
Will documents remain compatible if someone else does not have TOAgen?
Yes. Because TOAgen works with Word’s native Table of Authorities system, documents remain compatible even if another person does not have TOAgen. The marked citations and Table of Authorities stay within Word’s built-in TOA framework, so another user can still work with the document, add citations, and use Word’s native TOA features. One practical note is that if TOAgen has applied a customized citation order, a later Word-only update may not preserve that exact TOAgen-specific ordering. Even so, the document remains fully usable, the citations are not lost, and the TOA continues to function within Word’s native environment.

Can TOAgen help us build the Table of Authorities as we draft, instead of waiting until the end?
Can TOAgen help with short citations, duplicate citations, and citation cleanup?
Yes. That is one of TOAgen’s core strengths. TOAgen helps legal teams manage short cites, review and exclude misleading short-cite candidates, unify citation variants that refer to the same authority, and clean up duplicate or inconsistent entries before filing. It also supports Create TOA Draft, which makes it easier to extract a clean list of citations for outside verification, including review in Westlaw or LexisNexis.
Can TOAgen work with PDFs converted to Word?
Yes. TOAgen includes tools specifically for working with PDFs that have been converted into Word, which is especially useful when reviewing opposing counsel’s filings. PDF-to-Word conversion often breaks citation structure, inserts unwanted paragraph marks, and introduces formatting problems that make citations harder to detect accurately. TOAgen helps clean up and reformat the converted document, making it much more usable for citation review and TOA work.
Does TOAgen include built-in help or training?
Yes. TOAgen was designed to make learning part of the product experience instead of treating training as an afterthought. Users can access built-in help directly inside the application, including ribbon-button help, ribbon-group help, and keyboard shortcut guidance. TOAgen also supports contextual help and shortcut discovery in use, helping users learn faster and become more productive over time.
How was TOAgen developed?

The developer has created and worked through thousands of Tables of Authorities using the product, approaching it the same way a legal user would. Does TOAgen replace legal judgment?
No. TOAgen is designed to reduce the mechanical pain of Table of Authorities work, not replace legal judgment. It helps legal teams mark citations, manage cleanup, and improve workflow efficiency, while keeping users in control of citation review, editing, and final decisions.
Is TOAgen a general legal AI tool?
No. TOAgen is not positioned as a general legal AI assistant. It is a purpose-built workflow tool for Table of Authorities work. Its AI-related workflows support citation-based authority analysis using the completed authority set, not the broader legal drafting and research process. TOAgen can generate structured prompts for tools such as Copilot in Word, Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, and other AI chat applications the user may already use, but the focus remains authority-based review, not general legal AI.
Pricing and transition
How does TOAgen pricing work?
TOAgen uses a Litigation Attorney Subscription Model. Pricing is based on the number of litigation attorneys in the firm rather than on per-user or per-seat licensing. Support staff, including paralegals and legal assistants, are included at no extra cost. This gives firms a simpler, more practical way to deploy TOAgen across the litigation team without managing seat counts.
Do support staff need separate licenses?
No. TOAgen’s pricing model includes support staff at no extra cost. The subscription is based on the number of litigation attorneys in the firm, and the paralegals, legal assistants, and other support staff who work with those attorneys are included in that model.
What if our firm already uses another TOA product?
That does not prevent your firm from evaluating or adopting TOAgen. TOAgen is a strong fit for firms that want a more practical, Word-native workflow with lower training burden and less day-to-day friction. If your firm is currently subscribed to another TOA product, ask about TOAgen’s transition options. Qualified firms may be eligible for a limited overlap period to compare workflows and transition with greater confidence.
Jurisdictions, AI, and support
Does TOAgen support all jurisdictions?
No. TOAgen does not claim full jurisdiction coverage in version 1.0. Instead, it uses jurisdiction-aware citation detection and currently supports a defined set of jurisdictions. Version 1.0 supports Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. When a document includes citations from jurisdictions not yet fully covered, TOAgen still attempts to mark those citations usefully rather than miss them entirely.
Does TOAgen send my document’s narrative text to AI tools?
No. TOAgen’s AI-related workflows use only the citations found in the completed Table of Authorities. They do not send the surrounding narrative text of the brief, motion, pleading, or other filing for analysis. That means the analysis focuses on the authority set and citation patterns rather than the substance of your written argument.
What kind of support does Craveyon provide?

Can TOAgen still help if a citation falls outside current jurisdiction coverage?
Yes. If a citation falls outside TOAgen’s current jurisdiction coverage, TOAgen still attempts to mark it usefully rather than miss it entirely. In some cases, it may not capture the full citation exactly as you want, but it can still give you a strong starting point that you can quickly edit and complete using TOAgen’s citation-editing tools.
Does TOAgen validate citation structure against a citation database?
No. TOAgen does not aim to serve as a citation-substance database or to replace legal research tools. Its focus is on improving citation marking, cleanup, unification, review, and the Table of Authorities workflow while preserving user control over citation text. When teams want to verify citation structure or authority details, TOAgen supports workflows such as Create TOA Draft, which make external verification easier using established research tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
